Ride Raises Funds For National Guard Memorial
The Kentucky National Guard Memorial Ride to Remember took place Saturday in Lawrenceburg. All proceeds from the event went toward the construction of the memorial. That memorial is being built at the entrance to the Boone Center in Frankfort.
It’ll serve as a place for families of lost loved ones to come and remember. Organizers said it’ll also serve as a classroom of sorts for hundreds of school groups every year learning about U.S. and Kentucky history.
"Everybody is connected with KY National Guard one way or another and they want to support those names that are being memorialized forever," said Freddie Maggard, volunteer.
The ride also made stops along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail at Wild Turkey, Buffalo Trace and Woodford Reserve distilleries.
