UPDATE: Investigators Trying To Figure Out Who Branded Puppy

Investigators in Lexington are working to figure out who used chemicals to burn profanity into a dog’s skin.

Lexington Humane Society is taking care of the seven-month-old pit bull mix puppy.

Animal control officers said they found the dog chained to a fence.

They said someone had used chemicals to burn a curse word into her side.

The humane society decided to name the puppy Felicity.

Workers said they chose the name because it meant happiness.

A humane society veterinarian believes the burns happened about two months ago.

Other than the scar, LHS said Felicity is healthy.

She will undergo surgery soon to hide the lettering.

But the humane society needs help with the bills.

“We’re hoping with community support and raising money for her that we can get her all patched up and get her plastic surgery going well,” said Ashley Hammond with the Lexington Humane Society.  “Hopefully we can help her out so that she won’t be identified or opinions won’t come out about her that are untrue.”

LHS said once Felicity heals from her surgery, she’ll be ready for adoption.
