Kentucky man charged in death of father

MAYFIELD, Ky. (AP) — A western Kentucky man has been charged with manslaughter in the death of his father.

Kentucky State Police have arrested 44-year-old Terry Hayes of Mayfield. Hayes is being held in the Graves County Jail.

Police say Hayes called 911 on Wednesday to report finding his father, Bailey Hayes, dead inside his home. Investigators say they considered the death to be suspicious and requested an autopsy.

Police say the arrest of Hayes stemmed from the autopsy and evidence at the scene, as well as materials gathered during a search of the house. Detectives did not elaborate on the nature of the items found.

Jail records did not list an attorney for Hayes.
