Deputies: Parents Arrested After Young Children Found Living In Deplorable Conditions
When the deputies arrived, they arrested the parents: Michael and Rebecca Brown.
Michael Brown admits you wouldn’t want to eat off his floor, but he says his home looks just like yours.
After 15-hours in jail, Brown spent the evening cleaning his yard.
"I don’t know how people want some of me. I like the way my house is set up," said Michael Brown.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s office charged Michael and Rebecca Brown with endangering the welfare of their kids.
"Typical house. Can’t say much about it," said Brown.
The Sheriff’s Office disagrees. A deputy says in the kitchen they found dirty clothes, trash, rotten food, and dried dog waste.
In the living room, you can’t see the floor. Plus, deputies say the house was filled with flies and roaches.
"Like a normal house with three kids would look," said Brown.
Three deputies said it was the filthiest house they’d ever seen.
Brown doesn’t see anything wrong.
"Not really. It could be a little better and stuff, kid could get them to keep stuff picked up and cleaned up and stuff," said Brown.
Social services placed Brown’s three kids with neighbors.
"Daddy loves you. I’m gonna try to do everything I can to get you all back as quick as I can," said Brown.
Wednesday night he put those words into action.
"I love my kids to death. I go without food stuff just to make sure they’ve had food to eat, meal to drink, juice, whatever they want, I get it for them," said Brown.
For his kids, Brown says he will clean the home up to social services’ standards.
