UK Dean Says Immigration Reform Would Benefit University

The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at UK said immigration reform would benefit the university.

Dean Mark Kornbluh was part of a conference call Wednesday afternoon pushing the benefits of immigration reform.

Kornbluh said he would like to see undocumented children that grew up in the U.S. be able to attend places like UK.

He also said he believed not all international students should have to go back home after graduating.

Some graduates are able to find companies that are able to get them work permits, but Kornbluh said that process is costly and difficult.

A representative from the thoroughbred industry also spoke on the difficulties of finding local people to fill the horse industry jobs due to the hard work required outside in the heat and cold.

He said proper reform could help fill those jobs on a more consistent basis with international workers.
