UPDATE: Death Penalty Sought For Teen In Gas Station Shooting

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against a Lexington teenager who’s accused of gunning down a gas station clerk during a robbery last year.

But, it could be late next year before Travis Bredhold goes on trial, according to his attorney.

In court on Friday, the prosecution asked the judge to set a trial date, but the judge said it couldn’t be done until all the DNA evidence is in, which wasn’t expected until December because of a backlog at the state crime lab.

Court records show Bredhold has invoked the fifth amendment which would prevent him from incriminating himself.

His next court appearance is scheduled for October 10th.

Bredhold is accused of killing clerk Mike Patel during a robbery last December at an Alexandria Drive Marathon Station.
