UPDATE: Worker Killed On Cell Phone Tower Identified

Authorities identified a worker who was killed in a gruesome accident Wednesday while working on a cell phone tower in Harrison County.

State Police said the victim was Joe Metz, 28, of Indianapolis.

The Harrison County Sheriff said a crew was replacing a boom when the rigging failed, causing the boom to fall and decapitate Metz.

According to the Harrison County Coroner, Metz’ body was hanging from the cell phone tower for hours before finally being removed around 11:00 p.m. by the Erlanger Fire Department.

Metz worked for Fortune Wireless.

The accident remained under investigation.
