UPDATE: Dog Rescued In Lexington House Fire
Firefighters said no one was home when it started.
But it’s believed that a cat did not survive the fire.
Crews believe the fire started in the kitchen.
A neighbor across the street made the 911 call and said he was happy to help.
"I was working on my camper and started smelling smoke," explained Mike Hamilton. "I happen to look out of the camper to see a cloud of smoke above the house. So I went across the street to beat on the door. Then I went around the side of the house and seen flames in the kitchen window."
Firefighters said that because of the way the home was built, it was fairly airtight.
Crews said the fire was mostly out when they arrived.
Firefighters were still trying to find the renters of the house, who had recently moved in.
