Woman Reportedly Shoots Ex-Husband by Mistake

Deputies in Laurel County said they got a unique call early Wednesday morning, involving a woman who reportedly shot her ex-husband by accident with a black powder revolver.

Officers said they responded to Laurel River Church Road around 3:15am and learned that 31-year-old Rebecca Watkins and her former husband had gotten into an argument.

According to deputies, Watkins shot her ex once in the shoulder during the dispute.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Watkins was charged with first-degree assault — domestic violence — and booked into the Laurel County Detention Facility.
