Equine Therapy program helps veterans

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Animals provide a comfort that speaks for itself and Spirit of the Horse dials in on that providing equine therapy.


Saturday, Veterans were invited for a free event.

The owner Kelly Butcher says a Vietnam War veteran and active guardsmen with Kentucky National Guard were some of those who participated.

Butcher says they did various activities, but the main portion is called equine unionship therapy. It helps both the horse and the leader to become comfortable with each other and as the name entails, form a union.

Spirit of the Horse also holds events for first responders and youth events.
