Fayette has another near-record COVID day, crosses 16,000 cases

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – With 247 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, Fayette County recorded its sixth straight day of more than 200 new positives.

The cases pushed the county’s total across 16,000 to 16,096, according to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s morning report Wednesday.

The county recorded 1,000 new cases in just four days, the shortest period since the outbreak began.It took the county more than three months to record its first 1,000 cases.

The county already has recorded 4,762 cases in November with almost a week remaining in the month.

The county reported one more death, pushing the county’s total at 113.
