Independent pharmacy chain started in Berea wins award
BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ/Press Release) – The Med-Save Family of Pharmacies, a Kentucky-based group of pharmacist-owned independent pharmacies, has been awarded the Medicine Shoppe International 2019 Franchisee Award for Operational Excellence.
The award includes a $1,500 donation to the charity or pharmacy school of the recipient’s choice.
The Med-Save family of independent, pharmacist-owned pharmacies includes 12 independent pharmacies in Kentucky.
In addition to Med-Save Pharmacy Legends and Hubbard & Curry Med-Save Pharmacy, both in Lexington, many Med-Save Pharmacies are located in Kentucky’s smaller communities and towns, such as Wilmore, Nicholasville, Berea, and Campton.
Med-Save Pharmacies’ free prescription delivery, curbside flu shots, and “We treat your family like our family” motto have created legions of loyal customers in almost every corner of the state.
“Pharmacist Jerry Barnette and I opened the first Med-Save Pharmacy in Berea, Kentucky in 2016 and since then we’ve welcomed several others to the Med-Save Family of pharmacist owner/operators,” Pharmacist Dr. John McDaniel said. “Our group has worked incredibly hard to fulfill the need for the kind of personalized care big box pharmacies and mail order can’t and won’t deliver, and it’s gratifying to be recognized for that.”
“We’re also pleased to not only name Surgery on Sunday as the recipient of the $1,500 that accompanies the award, but to also match that with a $1,500 donation of our own,” Med-Save Wolfe Pharmacist and Owner/Operator David Ruth said. “We believe in Surgery on Sunday’s vision, and we’re proud to support an organization that does such great work.”
Surgery on Sunday is a charitable organization based in Lexington, Kentucky that provides medically necessary outpatient surgeries at no cost to income-eligible, uninsured or under-insured individuals who do not qualify for federal or state assistance.
