ORIGINAL STORY
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman is wanted for stealing a University of Kentucky mail truck to make a get away and dropping mail bags along the way as she went.
Lexington Police spokesperson Brenna Angel said officers still are looking for 23-year-old Brandi Spears on a variety of charges — new and old — following Monday’s escapades.
Spears was arrested Monday morning on outstanding warrants and when she claimed she needed medical attention, was taken to a hospital, according to Angel.
At the hospital, she managed to get out of her handcuffs and slip away, taking a UK mail truck parked nearby. She drove the truck back to her car which was parked at the Sam’s Club store on New Circle where she’d been arrested and made her get away, according to Angel.
Along the way, several bags of mail fell out of the truck.
In addition to the outstanding warrants, she now faces escape and theft charges, according to police.
