Grocery store exposure; testing in Wolfe, Lee; district sees more young people

BEATTYVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky River District Health Department has announced a possible COVID-19 exposure for customers of Jack’s IGA in Beattyville.
According to the district, customers who were in the store Nov. 1, Nov. 2 or Nov. 3 may have been exposed. They are advised to monitor symptoms including coughing, fever, shortness of breath, changes in the sensation of taste and smell, and/or gastro-intestinal upset.
If the symptoms develop, customers should contact a medical provider and get tested for COVID 19.
The district has two free walk-up testing locations next week to make it convenient fro residents.
Monday, Nov. 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., testing will be available at the Wolfe County Health Center at 145 KY Highway 15 North in Campton.
On Nov. 10, the testing moves to the Lee County Health Center at 48 Center St. in Beattyville.
Testing is 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 10, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, and 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13.
People must be older than 12 and don’t have to be showing symptoms to get the free tests.
“We are seeing an increased number of cases in the Kentucky River District region. Please wear face coverings whenever you are in public, practice social distancing, wash your hands frequently, and stay home if you are ill unless going to see a medical provider,” the district said in its Friday report.
KRDHD health officials reported 43 confirmed positive cases and 12 probable cases Friday. And many of the cases are people under 40.
The district reported one pediatric case under the age of 18, a 23-year-old male, a 28-year-old male, a 29-year-old female, a 30-year-old male, a 31-year-old female, a 45-year-old male, a 46-year-old male, a 47-year-old female, a 52-year-old female and two 82-year-old females from Knott County; two pediatric cases under the age of 18, a 28-year-old female, a 44-year-old female, a 45-year-old female, a 46-year-old male, and a 61-year-old male from Lee County; a 23-year-old male, a 29-year-old male, a 38-year-old male, and a 48-year-old female from Leslie County; a pediatric case under the age of 18, a 23-year-old male, a 27-year-old female, a 37-year-old male, a 46-year-old male, a 49-year-old female, a 58-year-old female, a 70-year-old female from Letcher County; a 64-year-old female from Owsley County; 5 pediatric cases under the age of 18, a 22-year-old female, a 23-year-old male, a 28-year-old female, a 35-year-old female, a 45-year-old female, a 46-year-old male, a 48-year-old female, a 48-year-old male, a 51-year-old female, a 54-year-old male, a 58-year-old male, a 62-year-old male, a 66-year-old female, a 67-year-old male, a 69-year-old female, and a 72-year-old male from Perry County; a 44-year-old female and a 51-year-old male from Wolfe County.
“We are saddened to report out the death of an 82-year-old female from Knott County that was reported out today,” the district said.
