Animal shelter raising money to buy HVAC system
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) — A Nicholasville animal shelter is partnering with a local business to provide air and heat to shelter animals.
The Jessamine County Animal Shelter is currently raising money to pay AirPro Heating and Cooling to supply electric heating and air conditioning to the shelter.
Tim Brown, director of the shelter, says the fundraising began at the end of the summer after experiencing several days where it got up to 100-degrees in the kennel.
AirPro is offering the shelter the lowest rate.
So far, they’ve only raised $4,000 of the almost $30,000 needed but Brown says they’re determined and the need is great.
“We are the voices for these voiceless animals and I think we need to take every necessary step to make sure while they’re in our care we are protecting them and doing whatever necessary,” says Brown.
Currently, the shelter has a gas system so winter won’t be bad but it’s more so the summers they’re concerned for.
If you’d like to donate, call the shelter directly at (859) 881-0821 or message them on their Facebook page. People can also mail monetary donations to the shelter at 120 Fairgrounds Way, Nicholasville, KY 40356. Beause of COVID-19, the shelter is appointment-only.
