Officer praised for going ‘above and beyond’
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington Police officer’s kindness is drawing widespread praise after her actions were shared on Facebook by Lexington lawyer Noel Caldwell.
Caldwell posted it Friday after hearing about it from one of his clients, Ronald Clay.
“Ronald came home yesterday to find his dog had been injured by another dog. He was so upset and did not know what to do, so he called the police for help for his dog. A woman police officer responded and loaded Ronald and his injured dog in her cruiser and took them to the Vet,” Caldwell wrote.
“When they got there, it was clear that his dog needed help. So the police officer stepped in and paid for the dog to be seen by the Vet in Ronald’s time of need,” he continued.
“The officer gave him her card but he cannot find it. Ronald told me this story this morning crying…btw I have never seen Ronald shed a tear. So he asked that I put this on here in case any of my Lex Police Officer friends have any idea who this Officer was.
“I spend a lot of my practice going after bad apples in police departments across KY and TN. But I truly believe good acts like this are the norm and should be recognized. Kindness goes a long way,” Caldwell wrote, with a note asking for him identifying the officer.
Within moments, he posted an update, naming Officer Donna Shepherd and thanking her for her work.
The Facebook post has received hundreds of reactions, comments and shares.
