‘Ditch Mitch’ rally held in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A rally Saturday afternoon called for the end of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s 35-year career.

The “Ditch Mitch” event was held at Harrodsburg Road and Corporate Drive.

Organizer Aaron Viles says the group is called the Mitch McConnell Retirement Fund and has been rallying since March. He says he thinks McConnell isn’t helping Kentuckians, and is instead focused on large corporations.

Viles also says he’s concerned about social security, Medicaid, Medicare, and the overall climate in the state. He says McConnell is creating division.

“He’s been there for 35 years and no one really wants to stand up for Mitch,” Viles says. “They might hold their nose and support him, but when they really dig in to what his agenda is all about – I think a lot of people are open to the idea of change.”

Viles says the group also provides information on how to vote and how to register to vote.
