UK Dance Blue urges freshman to get involved
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A popular student organization on UK’s campus is going to look a little different this year, but it says the show will go on.
Dance Blue hosted a virtual ‘K Week’ info session for incoming students earlier today, urging them to get involved, even if it’s through a computer screen.
Senior Meagan Wilkins has been a part of Dance Blue since her freshman year.
As a child, Wilkins was diagnosed with two tumors. In high school, she participated in a mini dance marathon. Its fundraising efforts went directly to the hospital where she was treated. Wilkins says she wants to keep helping.
“There’s just really no greater organization than an organization that gets to help kids facing probably one of the hardest things in their lives, and the now they’re also facing it in a pandemic,” says Wilkins.
Dance Blue is a year-long fundraising effort that ends with a 24-hour dance marathon each spring. The money raised goes to pediatric care at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
