Update: Firework Vendors Already Feeling Effects of Ban

Fireworks customers were few and far between Monday night, following word that Lexington Fayette Urban County Government was banning the use of fireworks during the next few days.

Vendors remain confident that customers will still buy, and just light off fireworks after the ban has been lifted.

Some stands are staying open until July 7th.

There are currently 41 firework stands in Fayette County.

It costs a thousand dollars to setup a stand, 500 for a state permit and another 500 for the city.

Lexington Fire Officials say they did have to shutdown two stands that did not have proper permits and another individual who was selling fireworks out of his truck.
