JACKSON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Sunday morning fire damaged the coliseum at Breathitt County High School.
According to the Jackson Fire Department, a construction worker called 911.
Fire crews arrived about four minutes later, around 11:15 a.m.
They found a fire and smoke coming from the back of the Fairce O. Woods Coliseum.
Five different departments fought the fire for more than four hours, finally putting it out.
The fire caused moderate damage to the coliseum, including smoke and water damage, but there weren’t any injuries.
Firefighters still don’t know what caused the fire.
The coliseum is named for former Wildcat and longtime Breathitt County Coach Fairce Woods, who coached in the 1960’s.
