Red Mile suspends operations two weeks

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Red Mile is suspending its operations for two weeks at the request of Gov. Andy beshear as part of the overall effort to reduce crowds and the possible spread of the coronavirus.

“In accordance with Governor Beshear’s recommendation, Red Mile Gaming and Racing, along with The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, have agreed to suspend operations for a period of 14 days, beginning Sunday, March 15th at 12 am. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” Red Mile said in a statement released Sunday evening.

“We have had no cases of COVID 19 at Red Mile, but make this decision out of the desire to ensure the safety of all our patrons, employees, and community.  We plan to reopen on Monday, March 30th, and we will continue to monitor the situation through our local, state, and federal agencies.” the track continued.
