Henry Clay Estate tours open for spring season
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Henry Clay Estate is now open for the spring season.
Tuesday was the first day of tours.
It also kicks off a new exhibit at the estate called Traces: Slavery at Ashland.
The tour tells the stories of some of the 122 people enslaved over the course of Henry Clay’s life.
The tour focuses heavily on the family.
The tour also takes you through the smokehouse where slaves were tasked with smoking meats.
It took two years to get the tour together.
The tour is available to the public weekly and available to private groups of ten or more by appointment.
This tour was made possible by a generous Local History Trust Fund Grant Administered by Kentucky Historical Society.
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:05 p.m.
Length of Tour: 50 minutes
Price: $15 Adults/$12 AAA and Military/$7 Students/ Age 5 & under free
Combination tickets for the Signature Tour + Traces tour are available at a discounted rate of $25 Available for Group Tour Bookings and School Group Bookings of 10 or more people.
