Former Carlisle city clerk sentenced for stealing more than $10,000 from city
CARLISLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A former Carlisle city clerk, convicted of stealing money from the city, received a probated five year sentence on Monday.
Court records say Ann Brierly’s attorneys asked for leniency in the sentencing because Brierly was in a desperate situation and she said she would pay the money back.
According to court records, prosecutors called it a “difficult case.”
Brierly pleaded guilty in January to theft and abuse of public trust.
Brierly is accused of stealing more than $10,000 from the city of Carlisle from 2013 to 2018.
