Benefit helping Lexington teen recovering from double transplant

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Sunday people gathered for Maquis Davis, a recipient of a heart and kidney transplant this December.

The benefit was at Consolidated Baptist Church with donations going to help the family, as well as hospital costs.

Davis is a senior at Frederick Douglass high school.

He was diagnosed with Hypo-plastic left heart syndrome, which means the left side of his heart can’t pump blood as well as it should.

“Thank you for not giving up on me,” Davis said in a video played at the benefit.
