Lexington celebrates becoming Dementia Friendly City
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-People met at the Lexington Senior Center celebrate the city becoming a Dementia Friendly City.
The designation was given by Dementia Friendly America, a network of communities that are informed, safe, and respectful of those with dementia, their families, and their caregivers.
97-year-old, Virginia Bell says the city’s progress is a dream come true.
Bell’s vision for a dementia friendly Lexington is credited for helping the city get the designation.
“All these years I have wished that what we know about living with people with dementia would spread out into the community and I see it happening and I’m so excited,” she said.
