Lexington Rescue Mission hosts Christmas dinner for those in need

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Lexington’s poor and homeless community were fed a free Christmas dinner at Broadway Christian Church Monday night.

It was the Lexington Rescue Mission’s 17th annual Christmas dinner.

Hundreds of people enjoyed a traditional dinner.

The meal included ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, a dessert and more.

Nearly a hundred volunteers helped serve the dinners.

The mission says it wants to make sure no one in the community goes hungry over the holidays or any day for that matter.

There was a Christmas service before the meals were served.

Those attending received a gift bag with gloves, hats, scarves and toiletries.

Around 50 families also received a Christmas food basket.
