Thanksgiving dinner for Hope Center’s homeless men

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Homeless men in Lexington will be sitting down to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner Monday night, courtesy of a Lexington catering group and church.

Clients from the Hope Center’s homeless, recovery, mental health and veterans programs will enjoy the gourmet holiday meal, hosted by Dupree Catering and LexCity church.

This is the second year the groups have done this for the Hope Center’s men.

They’re providing transportation from the shelter to the Mane on Main, which is located on the 15th floor of the Chase Tower.

The men will be greeted in the lobby by cub scouts holding signs of encouragement.

Around 200 people will eat the Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings.

“We did it last year and it was very impactful to us, maybe even more than them. So it was a no-brainer to do it again and we’re not doing it alone we have 60 volunteers. Some of our distributors, the florists and our lining company we use, they all have the same heart,” says Tom Evans, COO and owner of Dupree Catering and the Mane on Main.

“The holidays are very difficult for homeless people and our clients in general. Maybe their own families aren’t there right now but there are people in Lexington who care about them a great deal and want them to feel love,” says Carey Cairo with the Hope Center.

The dinner starts at 6 p.m. Monday night.
