Gov. Bevin recognizes sacrifice of Pikeville WWII sailor recently identified
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Gov. Matt Bevin is recognizing the sacrifice of a Pikeville World War II-era sailor whose remains were recently identified.
Navy Seaman 1st Class Millard Burk, Jr., age 19, was killed in action during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Burke’s remains were identified through dental and anthropological analysis.
On Friday, the governor’s office issued a release recognizing Burke’s sacrifices.
Gov. Bevin will order flags lowered to half-staff in honor of Seaman First Class Burk on July 19, and encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
