Lexington baseball team headed to Global World Series in July
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A local baseball team is headed to the World Series. The 10U Lex Sox Team is heading to the USSSA World Series in Gulf Shores, Alabama in July 2019.
Tiffany Trimble, the director of Top Level Baseball, says they started the organization three years ago when a group got together wanting to play, “at a higher level of baseball and also create a family environment that these boys would have each other as they grow throughout the years.”
Teams earn a spot in the Global World Series by competing in Global Qualifying tournaments and placing 1st or 2nd. Lex Sox 10U competed in the Super Select 30 in Indianapolis, Indiana and finished runner-up.
DJ Carter, age 10, plays shortstop. When asked what he was most excited for with the upcoming trip, Carter said, “to see the other kids talent and to go to the beach.”
Trimble says the trip is costly and they’re also looking for donations to help pay for expenses. Anyone looking to donate can visit their GoFundMe page HERE.
Those who can’t make the trip can still support and follow the teams journey on Facebook HERE.
