Blackjewel bankruptcy gives Harlan Co. highest KY unemployment rate in Sept.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ)- Harlan County had the highest unemployment rate in Kentucky for September with many Blackjewel miners remaining unemployed after the company declared bankruptcy in July.

The state says the statewide jobless rate was 3.8%

Harlan county’s was 11.9%

The national unemployment rate for that month was 3.3%
