Family wants justice in Lexington shooting death
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Friday marks three weeks since Lexington police found two people shot to death in a vehicle at the corner of Goodloe and Race Streets.
Still, police say no suspects have been arrested for the double homicide but a victim’s family is speaking out and they want justice.
“I want justice for Heather before I leave this world. I want whoever did this to her I want them to be punished and I want to look them in the eye because I want to know why. Why would you think it’s okay for you to take somebody’s life?” says Frances Noe, one of the victim’s grandmother.
On April 26th Noe got a call that changed her life forever.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office called her to tell her her granddaughter, 28-year-old Heather Grigsby was found dead inside a car on Goodloe Street – along with 44-year-old Shannon Goodwin.
“Why were they there, I don’t know. Why were they sitting in the car, I don’t know,” says Noe.
She says there’s not much she does know except that no one is behind bars for killing her granddaughter.
Police say both victims were shot several times.
No one has been arrested.
“There’s still somebody out there responsible for this and I just don’t want it to go cold,” says Heather’s grandmother.
Grigsby’s family is begging anyone who knows anything to come forward to police.
People can do so anonymously.
“If anybody could ever imagine having your child, even though she’s my granddaughter she feels like my child, killed – you would want to know. You would want anybody who knew something to help,” pleads Noe.
She says no had the right to take her life.
Police say they’re following up on leads but the investigation is still ongoing.
