Laurel Co. Deputies: Arrest Made After Car & Foot Chase
It says it started Tuesday afternoon on Cherry Avenue, south of London.
Deputies say they tried to pull a pickup driver over for a traffic violation.
When the driver didn’t stop, deputies say they blocked the truck in at the bottom of a hill.
They say the driver then put the pickup in reverse and ran into a ditch.
When the truck became stuck, deputies say the man behind the wheel jumped out and ran off.
The sheriff’s office says that after a short chase and brief struggle, deputies arrested 38-year-old John P. Cowan of London.
He’s facing several charges including Reckless Driving, Fleeing Or Evading Police , 2nd Degree (in a vehicle), Fleeing Or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (on Foot), Resisting Arrest, No Insurance and Possession of a Radio That Sends or Receives Police Messages.
Deputies say Cowan told them that he ran because he thought he had a suspended driver’s license.
