Suspect in officer-involved shooting in Madison Co. identified
MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – An officer-involved shooting in Madison County has left one man injured.
Kentucky State Police say the Madison County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 4 p.m. Tuesday about a suicidal individual at Masters Court in Richmond.
Troopers say deputies arrived at the scene and 58-year-old Paul Downing pulled out a gun and pointed it at them.
The deputies fired on Downing, according to state police.
They say he was taken to the University of Kentucky hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Downing is charged with attempted murder of a police officer.
The deputies were not injured.
The deputies are on administrative leave while the incident is under review, which the Madison County Sheriff’s Office says is department policy.
