Trooper pulls over man suffering from gunshot wound

WALLINS, Ky. (WTVQ) – A trooper investigating a shooting in Harlan County came across the victim, who was driving himself away from the scene.

Kentucky State Police say a call came in Wednesday around 2:40 a.m. about a shooting at 1427 Highway 219 in the Wallins community.

According to police, 35-year-old Brian Owens and 26-year-old Tommy Shackleford got into a fight at a home, and Shackleford pulled a gun and shot Owens in his midsection.

After being shot, Owens drove himself from the home and was pulled over a short time later by a trooper, who called an ambulance.

Owens was taken to a local hospital then flown to a hospital in Tennessee.

No arrests have been made.

Police say the case will be presented to a Harlan County Grand Jury.
