Arrest made in Perry County shooting

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Less than a day after issuing a warrant for his arrest, authorities say they have a Perry County shooting suspect in custody.

The sheriff issued the warrant for James Reed III for assault on Tuesday.

Reed is accused of shooting 42-year-old Brian Smith last week.

Authorities say Reed and Smith got into a fight near railroad tracks in the Christopher community on Friday and Reed shot Smith.

Smith is in the Pikeville Medical Center in serious condition, according the the sheriff.
