Letcher County Teen Killed In Car Crash

A Letcher County teenager was killed Wednesday afternoon in a two vehicle collision in the Cody Community of Knott County, according to State Police.

Investigators said Jenny Christine Watts, 18, of Isom, pulled into the path of another car at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 160.

State Police said Watts, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

Investigators said passengers in Watts’ car, along with the driver of the other vehicle, were taken to the Whitesburg ARH Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 15 was closed for several hours following the deadly collision.

Trooper Brandon Thomas is in charge of the investigation and collision reconstruction.
