House fire takes hours to put out in Mt. Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Mount Vernon Fire Department says it took several hours to put out a house fire early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters say that they were called out to Lake Linville Road around 3 a.m. They say that when they arrived, there was extreme smoke and heat.

The department says the fire was put out without incident after several hours.

Brindle Ridge firefighters and Broadhead firefighters also helped put the fire out.
