Beshear highlights Team Kentucky documentary ‘Rising’ now streaming on Prime Video

The documentary focuses on the strength of Eastern Kentuckians as communities continue rebuilding after catastrophic flooding impacted the region during the summer of 2022.

The documentary’s release comes just days before the four-year anniversary of the devastating floods, which struck Eastern Kentucky in July 2022 and claimed the lives of 45 Kentuckians.

To mark the anniversary, Beshear and First Lady Britainy Beshear are scheduled to visit Eastern Kentucky on Monday, July 27, where they will provide updates on progress at high-ground communities being built for families impacted by the flooding.

Work continues on several high-ground communities across the region, with two already completed:

• Wayland high-ground community in Floyd County, featuring 14 homes
• The Cottages at Thompson Branch in Letcher County, featuring 10 homes

According to Prime Video’s synopsis, “RISING” tells the story of “the strength and resilience of Eastern Kentuckians as they undertake the most ambitious rebuilding effort in the nation following the historic flooding that took place in the summer of 2022.”

Team Kentucky is listed as the directors and producers of the documentary.

“RISING is a story that shows what’s possible when you put your people first, work together and demand a solution that will bring meaningful change and now it will reach the entire world through Prime Video,” said Gov. Beshear. “With proceeds going toward our Team Kentucky Emergency Relief Fund, RISING will not only inspire people to see what’s possible following natural disasters, but it will also continue to support Kentucky families affected by these types of challenges. I am so proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and even more proud that we can share the resilience and strength of our people through Prime Video.”

The documentary is now available to stream on Prime Video.
