Teen charged with assault after shooting at Douglass Park leaves woman hospitalized

A 17-year-old is facing felony charges after a shooting at Douglass Park left a woman with life-threatening injuries before the suspect barricaded herself inside a home for three hours.
A female victim was reportedly shot at Douglass Park on Sunday, at around 9:50 p.m. Officers responding to the scene, found the victim, and transported her to a local hospital with reported life-threatening injuries. She is now in stable condition, according to LPD.
The suspect fled before officers arrived. Using information gathered at the scene, officers reportedly located the suspect’s vehicle at a home in the 1100 block of Oakwood Drive. The suspect refused to exit the residence when officers attempted to make contact, LPD noted.
After three hours, the female suspect was taken into custody.
The teen was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment.

One person has been arrested, and another was injured following a barricade situation on Oakwood Drive Sunday night, according to the Lexington Police Department.
Police say that a shooting happened around 9:50 p.m. on Sunday at Douglass Park.
According to police, a woman was found with an apparent gunshot wound and taken to a local hospital with reported life-threatening injuries.
After further investigation, police say they learned that a suspect was at a home at the 1100 block of Oakwood Drive.
According to police, they attempted to contact the suspect, who refused to come out of the home.
Police say that after three hours, a woman was arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
