LPD: Woman, children take cover in ambulance during gunfire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A paramedic pulled a woman and two children into an ambulance to help shield them from gunfire in Lexington Thursday, according to police.

The Lexington Police Department says the three were in a car when another driver began firing at them in the 1800-block of Courtland Drive around 2:30 p.m.

Police say the woman spotted the ambulance, stopped the car and the three went toward the ambulance. According to police, the suspect was still firing shots and that’s when the medic grabbed the three, put them in the ambulance and drove off.

One of the shots hit the ambulance.

The medic drove the ambulance to a nearby fire station and the police were called.

No one was injured.

Police are still searching for the suspect.
