Report: 28-year-old man charged with vehicular homicide after crash on Cumberland Parkway

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – A 66-year-old Russell Springs man died Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on the Cumberland Parkway, according to the Russell County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner identified the victim as Maylon Brown Jr. of Russell Springs.

28-year-old Christopher Austin was reportedly arrested and charged in connection with the crash. Court records showed that Austin faces the following charges:

 

  • Vehicular homicide while under the influence of drugs or a substance
  • Reckless driving
  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance (aggravated circumstance)
  • First-degree possession of a controlled substance — first offense (methamphetamine)

The Kentucky State Police continue to investigate the crash.
