Bill giving JCPS superintendent additional powers passes House
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A bill giving the superintendent of Kentucky’s largest school district passes the House and is heading to the governor’s desk.
Senate Bill 252 passed the House 54-to-42.
The new powers would include the ability to hire principals instead of the school-based decision making councils.
Supporters say it would help Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio improve the district. Those against the bill say it gives too much power to one position.
The additional powers would expire in five years.
