Mo Williams expected to join Kentucky’s staff as assistant coach for 2026-27 season

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The Kentucky Wildcats are expected to hire Jackson State men’s basketball head coach and former NBA All-Star Mo Williams as an assistant coach for the 2026–27 season, according to On3 sports.

Williams played 14 seasons in the NBA from 2003 to 2017. He was an All-Star in 2009 and won an NBA championship in 2016, both while playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He began his coaching career as an assistant at Cal State Northridge from 2018 to 2020.

Williams then served as head coach at Alabama State from 2020 to 2022 before spending the last four years as the head coach at Jackson State.

Williams’ son, Mason, committed to Kentucky for the upcoming season last week.
