Somerset man arrested on strangulation, domestic violence charges in Pulaski County
PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Somerset man has been arrested in connection with a domestic violence assault.
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, John Denton Stewart III, 19, was arrested March 12 and charged with first-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault – domestic violence.
Officials say Stewart is being held in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
Authorities say the investigation began March 11 when Detective Ryan Jones interviewed the alleged victim, who reported Stewart became physically violent, forced them to the ground, placed his hands around their neck, and restricted their airway. The victim also told investigators Stewart made threats to kill them.
Detectives say they observed bruising, bite marks, and lacerations on multiple areas of the victim’s body, including the neck.
Based on the evidence collected, officials say a warrant was obtained for Stewart’s arrest, and he was taken into custody without incident at his residence.
Investigators say the case will be presented to a Pulaski County grand jury at a later date.
