Procession to honor fallen Fort Knox soldier Benjamin Pennington ahead of funeral

FORT KNOX, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A procession honoring a fallen Kentucky soldier will be held Friday ahead of his funeral this weekend.

According to military officials, the body of Staff Sgt. Benjamin Pennington, 26, of Glendale will arrive at the Godman Army Airfield at Fort Knox Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.

A dignified transfer will take place before a procession travels to Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

Community members are invited to line the procession route to honor Pennington.

As previously reported, Pennington died from his injuries on March 8 following an attack in Saudi Arabia.

Officials say his funeral will be held Saturday at Central Hardin High School in Hardin County.
