Judge blocks Kentucky State Police from transferring records in Doug Harless case
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Franklin County judge has granted a temporary restraining order preventing Kentucky State Police from transferring investigation records related to the Doug Harless case to the City of London.
The order was granted after the London city attorney and a Kentucky State Police representative did not appear in court for the scheduled hearing.
The Harless family filed a lawsuit in Franklin County Circuit Court against Kentucky State Police last week, claiming the agency was withholding records connected to the investigation.
According to the complaint, the family argues KSP violated Kentucky’s Open Records Act by failing to make a timely determination on their records request and by withholding documents that should be publicly available.
The restraining order temporarily blocks the transfer of those records until the family has an opportunity to review them.
The case remains ongoing.
