Pulaski County man arrested on sexual assault charges involving minor

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Pulaski County man accused of sexually assaulting a minor about ten years ago.

Sheriff Bobby Jones says 47-year-old William Roberts Jr. of Nancy was arrested the night of March 13 and charged with first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree sodomy, second-degree rape, and other charges.

Officials say Roberts was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.

Authorities say Detective Branson Patterson was assigned to the case after the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Division was contacted March 12 by Deputy Grant Bryant, who had responded to a new allegation of sexual assault involving a minor.

During the early stages of the investigation, officials say detectives discovered Roberts had allegedly assaulted another individual who was a minor at the time approximately ten years ago.

Investigators say Patterson conducted interviews and collected evidence before obtaining a warrant for Roberts’ arrest.

The investigation also involved assistance from Detective Jay Picard, Sergeant Alex Wesley, Deputy Ronnie Golden, Deputy Dylan West, Deputy Jared Pierce, Deputy Grant Bryant, and the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services.
