Sheriff’s Deputy shot in Barren County after car chase

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a Barren County Sheriff’s Deputy was shot during a fight early Saturday morning.

According to KSP, deputies were arresting Jonathan Shelton from Smyrna, Tennessee after a short car chase.

State police say there was a fight that led to a deputy getting shot.

That deputy, Joseph Ford, was taken to the hospital for treatment, but is expected to survive.

Shelton faces several charges including assault of a police officer.
