Mojtaba Khamenei chosen as Iran’s new Supreme Leader

IRAN. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Clerics in Iran have selected the country’s next Supreme Leader.

According to Iranian state television, Mojtaba Khamenei has been named the successor to his father, the late Ali Khamenei.

The decision was made by the Assembly of Experts, an 88-member group of clerics responsible for selecting Iran’s Supreme Leader.

With the vote, Mojtaba Khamenei becomes the third Supreme Leader since the Iranian Revolution that established the Islamic Republic.
