Overturned semi shuts down outbound Nicholasville Road near New Circle

UPDATE (2:00 P.M.): The incident has been cleared, and all outbound lanes are back open to traffic.

LEXINGTON, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Breaking news impacting traffic in Lexington as a crash involving an overturned semi-truck has shut down outbound lanes of Nicholasville Road near New Circle Road.

According to the Lexington Police Department, the semi overturned near the overpass.

Police say the driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities have closed outbound Nicholasville Road at New Circle Road and are advising drivers to avoid the area.

Officials estimate the roadway could remain closed for several hours as crews work to clear the scene.

Traffic is currently being diverted to the inner loop of New Circle Road, while vehicles exiting the inner loop are being redirected to inbound Nicholasville Road.

The crash remains under investigation.
